Psychedelic therapy is a therapeutic approach that utilizes the ingestion of psychedelic substances, such as psilocybin, MDMA, or LSD, in conjunction with psychotherapy sessions. The use of these substances is not for recreational purposes but rather to facilitate deep introspection, emotional processing, and psychological healing.
In psychedelic therapy, the psychedelic substance is typically administered in a controlled and supportive environment, guided by trained therapists or facilitators. The client is encouraged to explore their inner experiences, thoughts, emotions, and memories while sitting within the influence of the psychedelic substance. The therapy session will include a personally curated playlist designed to synchronize with your intentions, needs, brain activity and low stimulation environments to explore inner depth rather than external.
There are several contraindications or reasons why someone may not be suitable candidates for psychedelic therapy. It’s crucial for individuals considering this treatment to undergo a thorough screening process and consultation with qualified healthcare professionals before proceeding. Here are some common contraindications:
Severe Mental Health Conditions: Individuals with severe psychiatric disorders such as schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, or severe personality disorders may not be suitable candidates for psychedelic therapy. Psychedelics can potentially exacerbate symptoms or trigger psychotic episodes in vulnerable individuals.
History of Psychotic Episodes or Family History of Psychiatric Disorders: Individuals with a personal or family history of psychotic episodes or psychiatric disorders may be at a higher risk of adverse reactions to psychedelics and should proceed with caution.
Cardiovascular or Respiratory Issues: Psychedelic substances can elevate heart rate and blood pressure, which may pose risks for individuals with underlying cardiovascular conditions. Similarly, individuals with respiratory issues may experience complications due to increased respiratory rate.
Pregnancy or Breastfeeding: There is limited research on the effects of psychedelic substances on pregnant or breastfeeding individuals and their unborn or nursing babies. Due to the potential risks, it’s advised to avoid psychedelic therapy during pregnancy or while breastfeeding.
Current Substance Use or Addiction Issues: Individuals with a history of substance abuse or addiction may be at risk of experiencing heightened cravings or relapse during or after psychedelic therapy. It’s essential for individuals with substance use disorders to address these issues before considering psychedelic therapy.
Certain Medications: Some medications, particularly antidepressants and other psychiatric medications, can interact with psychedelic substances and may increase the risk of adverse reactions. It’s important for individuals to disclose all medications they are currently taking to their healthcare providers before undergoing psychedelic therapy.
Unstable Medical or Psychological Conditions: Individuals who are currently experiencing unstable medical or psychological conditions may not be suitable candidates for psychedelic therapy. It’s essential to ensure that individuals are in a stable physical and mental state before undergoing treatment.
Lack of Social Support or Integration Resources: Psychedelic experiences can be intense and challenging, and having a supportive environment and access to integration resources is crucial for maximizing the therapeutic benefits and minimizing potential risks. Individuals without adequate social support may not be ideal candidates for psychedelic therapy.
During a psychedelic therapy session, you can expect a carefully structured and supportive environment designed to facilitate deep introspection, emotional processing, and psychological healing. Here’s what you might experience:
1. **Preparation**: Before the session, you’ll meet with your therapist or facilitator to discuss your intentions, goals, and any concerns you may have. They will provide guidance on how to prepare mentally, emotionally, and physically for the experience. This may include practicing relaxation techniques, setting intentions, and discussing expectations.
2. **Setting**: The therapy session will take place in a comfortable and safe setting, in a specially designed room. The setting is carefully curated to minimize external distractions and create a conducive atmosphere for introspection and emotional exploration.
3. **Administration of Psychedelic Substance**: Depending on the specific protocol and substance being used, the psychedelic substance will be administered either orally (e.g., in the form of a capsule, candy, fruit, or liquid). The dosage will be carefully calibrated based on your individual needs, preferences, and therapeutic goals, experience, medical history, and intentions.
4. **Guided Experience**: Throughout the session, you’ll be supported by trained therapists or facilitators who will guide you through the experience. They may provide verbal guidance, offer reassurance, and facilitate your journey by playing music, providing art supplies, or engaging in supportive dialogue.
5. **Altered States of Consciousness**: As the psychedelic substance takes effect, you may experience alterations in your perception, cognition, and emotions. These may include visual and auditory hallucinations, changes in mood, heightened sensory experiences, and a sense of interconnectedness or unity with the world.
6. **Emotional Release and Insight**: Psychedelic therapy often facilitates the release of repressed emotions, memories, and psychological material that may be deeply ingrained or difficult to access through conventional means. You may experience a range of emotions, including joy, sadness, fear, or anger, as you explore and process these experiences.
7. **Integration**: Towards the end of the session, you’ll have the opportunity to reflect on your experience and integrate the insights gained into your daily life. Your therapist or facilitator will help you make sense of your experience, identify any insights or revelations, and develop strategies for incorporating them into your personal growth journey.
8. **Post-session Support**: After the session, you’ll receive ongoing support and guidance from your therapist or facilitator to help integrate the experience and navigate any challenges that may arise. This may include follow-up sessions, integration practices, and access to resources for ongoing support.

Members of Sacred Bloom Native American Indigenous Church who are approved for psychedelics are the only people who are able to participate in the sessions or ceremonies. We regard the use of sacred medicines with kindness, love, intention, and utmost safety.
The steps to achieve approval are as follows:
- Complete the SB NAIC application.
- Complete the Consent to Receive Sacrament.
- Complete the liability forms
- Join Sacred Bloom
Once you are a member of the church, we then schedule you for a full medical evaluation. This step allows us to ensure you can safely receive the medication and allows to create a treatment plan specific to you and your needs. We will also offer approval to specific medications that could be utilized in a meaningful way and the modes or session types that can be booked.
The next step is to schedule your intention setting appointment! During this appointment, the options that are available will be offered and discussed. You and your facilitator will discuss a modality that offers the highest possible good outcome.
Finally, you will schedule and prepare for your dosing session(s).
Integration is available following all sessions and is the most critical piece of success. The medication will allow you to establish new neural pathways. But change happens by exercising those pathways. This happens with integration, curiosity, and kindness.
Since we do offer traditional therapies, we are able to accept some insurance. Your state, policy, and co-pay will vary. Insurance could cover your evaluation, intention setting and the integration following your dosing session. Insurance will not cover your actual dosing sessions. Please refer to the pricing above for those out of pocket expenses.
Medication is produced and manufactured medicinally with intention, energy and love. We will always offer the lowest possible pricing. Currently medications range from $25 to $111 for multiple doses.
